There isn't really a best time to visit Cyprus. Indeed, this island located south of Turkey benefits from pleasant weather conditions all year round thanks to its geographical position. However, if you wish to fully enjoy all its assets, it is best to plan a trip between April and November.
A prime destination for summer family vacations, Cyprus is crowded from June to August. Beaches are often packed, and hotels are fully booked. To avoid last-minute stress, remember to book your stay well in advance. This will give you the opportunity to take advantage of still affordable rates. Summer is indeed a boon for tourism, as prices tend to rise. Another downside during this time of year is the heat, which can become scorching, especially in August.
When is the best time to visit Cyprus to avoid the crowds? The ideal time to enjoy only advantages is to go from April to June or in September-October. Cyprus then enjoys top-notch weather with warm temperatures, without being stifling. This way, you can calmly visit and discover churches and monasteries in complete privacy. These moments are also perfect for hiking in the Troodos Mountains, as there are fewer visitors.
In autumn, until the end of November, the good weather lingers on and you can enjoy idyllic conditions to spend time at the beach and indulge in seaside activities in complete tranquility.
During winter, between January and March, coincides with the low season and the island is very quiet. Ski enthusiasts, looking for picturesque places to practice their passion, head to the Troodos resorts, perched at 1800 meters above sea level.

Climate and Weather in Cyprus
The climate in Cyprus is mostly Mediterranean with hot summers. This is the type of climate found in Paphos or Larnaca, and along the entire coast. Inland, around Nicosia, the climate is more semi-arid, dry, and hot.
With an average of 340 days of sunshine per year, the weather in Cyprus is characterized by a constant blue sky, very short transitional seasons, mild winters, but dry and particularly hot summers. Here is what to expect in detail during your stay:
Summer Climate in Cyprus
The island enjoys weather similar to that of the Cyclades or the Ionian Islands with very long summers, which generally extend from early May to late October, or even November. However, temperatures can become unbearably high inland, with the thermometer often exceeding 40°C (104°F) at the peak of the season.
On the coast, however, sea breezes from the Mediterranean help alleviate this heat, especially in Lemesos on the east coast. Moreover, beach lovers will be in paradise, as the water temperature can reach 29°C (85°F) in August!
If the heat bothers you, go for walks in the forest, or enjoy the morning coolness for excursions and stay cool during the hottest hours.
Autumn Climate in Cyprus
Autumn is very short on the island and usually lasts barely two months, between November and December. As time goes on, temperatures drop and some precipitation may occur, especially towards the end of the season. While November is still perfect for beach pleasures, December is cooler, with average temperatures ranging from 14 to 19°C (67°F) .
Winter Climate in Cyprus
Between January and March, winter in Cyprus is enough to make Europeans from more northern countries jealous. The season is mild and particularly pleasant!
In the plains and along the coast, temperatures hover around 15°C during the day and the sun shines brightly. Perfect for strolling in the villages and walking around without suffering from the heat. However, late December and January are the rainiest months, with an average of 3 to 7 days of rain, and snow can appear on the mountain tops.
Spring Climate in Cyprus
Just like autumn, spring is very short in Cyprus: between late March and late April. The island's meadows are then covered with multicolored flowers, a true delight! The only downside is that the sea water is still a bit cool to fully enjoy swimming, with temperatures around 19°C (67°F) in April. From early May, summer is already settling in, much to the delight of vacationers craving warmth!
