When is the best time to go to Rome?

Rome, also known as “the Eternal City” can be visited all year long. In order to enjoy the tour of Rome, under clement skies and beautiful weather it is important to choose the travel period accordingly - when the crowd is relatively less dense such as in April-May or October-November.

It should be noted that during Holy Week, many devout Catholics from around the world flock to Rome to hear the blessing of the Supreme Pontiff on Easter Sunday; during this period, hotels and accommodation centers will be filled to the brim.

From the months of May to September, the tourist season is also at its peak. Of course, the relatively high prices are to be expected as compared to the rest of the year.

The period from November to April is less crowded and more ideal for the peaceful discovery of the coliseum, the Farnese Palace or the inevitable Trevi Fountain as well as many other historical sites included within the heritage of Unesco. The city continues to face a few peaks in affluence during Christmas, the carnival of Mardi Gras and during the Rome Marathon which is held in April.
